One Badass Editor
I live most my life in the command line and I’ve been a longtime user of Neovim but I’ve grown increasingly tired of tinkering with plugins and decided to simply. I explored a few options but ended up landing on this gem vis, combining modal editing with structural regular expressions.
I explored the SAM editor in the past but that alone never really stuck. I wanted to learn more of the regular expressions but I never had an fallback in that editor alone. What vis provides is fallback to use my VI experience while still learning the features of SAM. I’ve gotten to the point where I feel like a weak warlord when it comes to coding and editing.
What I respect and love about this project is they specify the Non Goals which really means they have a clear identify on what they want this project to be. In honest, they’ve done a fantastic job when it comes to making a simple, clutter free editor.
To polish it off, you can write plugins in Lua and they have a small collection of ones in the community now that I’ve enjoyed. I highly suggest checking vis out.
